Wiveliscombe Taxis also known as Wivey Taxis
was started in 1987 whilst John was Sub-Postmaster at Waterrow Post Office just outside Wiveliscombe.
Since the Post Office has long since closed he operates the Wiveliscombe Taxis full-time Wivey Taxis are licenced by Somerset and West formally Taunton Deane County Council.
We have cars for up to 4 passengers that can be booked in advance, if there are more than 4 passengers we can usually do 2 or more journey’s on short runs.
Being a small rural Taxi Service we are unable to offer a 24 hr service. We do make an extra effort to be more flexible for those that are visiting the area and arrange for us to meet them at Taunton Station, or one of the Southwest airports, if they are heading to the Wiveliscombe area.
The Taunton based taxis are keen to bring you the 11 mile journey to Wiveliscombe but not so keen to come to Wiveliscombe to take you to a local venue. If we are only offered the local work and not the journeys from Taunton Station or Bristol and Exeter Airports, then villages like ours could lose this service as the local population is too small to keep us as busy as we need to be.
